Eddy Current Damper
![]()
Eddy current dampers utilize eddy currents generated by the relative motion of a conductive plate (copper or aluminum ) between two sets of permanent magnets to create damping. These eddy currents are then converted into heat and dissipated due to the electrical resistance in the conductive plate. These products utilize no mechanical connections, no working fluid, and require no power supply, yet provide a linear damping force. Eddy current dampers can be used as tuned mass dampers or installed independently in bridges and building structures.
